GCS District 4 School Board – Meet The Candidate: Dr. Irish Spencer (END FEB 6)

The Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum will host a Meet-The-Candidate event with Dr. Irish Spencer, running for Guilford County School Board District 4, on Friday, February 6th from 6pm until 10pm, at CHBM’s Kimball Hall, 6136 Burlington Road in Gibsonville. Entertainment and refreshments will be provided. Related elementary schools: Alamance, Bessemer, Brightwood, Gibsonville, McLeansville, Monticello-Brown Summit, Northern, and Reedy Ford. Black History Month Celebration at GCC First Friday (END FEB 6)

Creative Greensboro and the Greensboro Cultural Center’s art galleries will present special programming in celebration of Black History Month during First Friday from 6-9 pm on Friday, February 6. The evening will include a vendor fair featuring Black artists and Black-owned businesses offering gifts, artwork, and food. Tumaini Johnson, aka TJ the DJ, will provide music highlighting genres central to Black history, including blues, soul, gospel, R&B, and hip-hop. In the GreenHill gallery, Kay Marion and the Neo Symphony will perform a live musical set. NC Folk Festival Art & Poster Design Contest (END FEB 13)

The North Carolina Folk Festival is now accepting entries for their 2026 Festival Art & Poster Design Contest. Open to all artists currently residing in North Carolina, submissions may be individual or collaborative. The selected artwork will serve as the official poster for this September, with the artist receiving a cash prize. The submission deadline is February 13. Davidson County Library Lover’s Month Replacement Cards (END FEB 14)

In honor of Library Lovers’ Month, Davidson County Public Library branches will be offering free replacement library cards Monday, February 9th – Saturday, Feb. 14th. If your library card is lost or damaged, you will be able to obtain a new card at no cost to you. If a lack of card has kept you away from the library, do not miss this chance to remedy that fact. Green Book Oasis Spaces Exhibit at Historic Magnolia House (Disc. FEB 16)

This Black History Month, The Historic Magnolia House is honored to host the NC Green Book Oasis Spaces Exhibit, created by the North Carolina African American Heritage Commission. Commemorating the 90th Anniversary of Victor Green’s Negro Traveler’s Green Book, the exhibit will be on view starting February 16th, at The Historic Magnolia House, 442 Gorrell Street. Guilford County Summer Job Hiring Session (END FEB 16)

Ahead of a busy summer season, Guilford County Parks will host a hiring event to fill several part-time positions across multiple park locations. MMR Vaccinations Awareness (Disc. Feb 16)

As measles cases rise nationwide, the Guilford County Division of Public Health advises residents to confirm that they and their family members are up to date on immunizations. Measles is a highly preventable disease through the MMR vaccine. MMR vaccinations are available from local health care providers. Additionally, the Guilford County Division of Public Health offers immunization appointments Monday through Friday, 9am to 4 pm, in Greensboro and High Point. Davidson County Black History Month Black History Trivia (END FEB 19)

On Thursday, February 19, at 6:30pm, the Lexington Public Library and the Davidson County Historical Museum will celebrate Black History Month with Black History Trivia. This free and open to the public event will be held in the Davidson County Historical Museum located on the square in uptown Lexington, 2 S Main St. Adults and families are welcome! Winston-Salem Forsyth County Lead Pipes Notifications (Disc. Feb 20)

As the nationwide effort continues to identify any lead water pipes remaining underground, some 3,300 Winston-Salem Forsyth County residents are receiving annual notifications required by the EPA. Customers can view sample letters, check the status of their property, follow the simple steps to identify their own service line, and submit their results for verification at cityofws.org/pipes.

Freedom Outreach Ministry Singles Session (END FEB 21)

Freedom Outreach Ministry in High Point will host the Singles Session on Saturday, February 21st, at 3pm, at 7200 East Fork Road in High Point. Precious Cargo Foundation Childbirth Education Intensive (END FEB 22)

Salem Band Winter Concert (END FEB 22)

The City of Greensboro’s Ad-Hoc Committee on African American Disparity, in conjunction with the Office of Business Opportunity and Greensboro Cultural Center, will host “Taste of the African Diaspora” at 5:30pm on Thursday, February 26, at the African American Atelier, on the second floor of the Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 N. In celebration of Social Emotional Learning, Colfax Elementary will host its Career Fair for students at Colfax Elementary School on Friday, February 27, from 8-11:30am. GYC – Camille’s Closet and Theo’s Threads (END FEB 27)

The Greensboro Youth Council will be collecting clothing donations for its upcoming Camille’s Closet & Theo’s Threads – Formal Wear Drive through Friday, February 27. This program collects new and gently worn prom wear to be provided free of charge to middle and high school students who would otherwise be unable to afford them. 2027 Alamance County Tax Reappraisal (Disc. Feb 28)

As part of the 2027 Alamance County Tax Reappraisal, members of the Reappraisal Team can be identified by the County Seal/Contract Services magnet on their car, high-visibility vests, and Alamance County-issued identification badges. When Field Staff arrive, they will knock or ring the doorbell, and leave a blue door hanger if no one answers. LIAM YouthWatch & Guardian Project (Disc. Feb 28)

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is announcing an update to the Guardian Project – Vulnerable Population Registry, with the LIAM (Lifesaving Identification And Monitoring) YouthWatch. The Guardian Project is an initiative dedicated to protecting individuals with cognitive conditions who are at risk of life-threatening wandering, or someone who may have special needs that may affect communication or response in an emergency situation. NC Primary Election (END MAR 03)

North Carolina will hold its 2026 election season primary on Tuesday, March 3. In-person early voting will run from Thursday, February 12 through Saturday, February 28. The deadline for absentee ballot request is Tuesday, February 17. A voter cannot vote in more than one party’s primary. Guns n’ Hoses Charity Hockey Tournament (END MAR 14)

The Cooperative Extension at North Carolina A&T State University will host its 40th annual Small Farms Week March 22-26, with the theme “Deep Roots, Strong Future: 40 Years of Small Farm Impact.” Events will include workshops, hands-on demonstrations, and the naming of the 2026 Small Farmers of the Year, with an emphasis on the crucial role of small-scale producers and their impact on communities. North Carolina A&T will host the 2026 Black Sportswriters Hall of Fame Induction on Saturday, April 11, at the A&T Student Center, 1403 John W. Mitchell Drive, in Greensboro. Take Me Home

The Greensboro Police Department will be participating in the “Take Me Home” program. “Take Me Home” is a free program that allows family members and legal guardians to upload critical information for individuals with a cognitive impairment or developmental disability in the event that a registered individual encounters law enforcement or is reported missing. TRIAD Goodwill Accepts Food Donations

A lot of people don’t know this, but Triad Goodwill accepts food donations and routes them to local food banks. Non-perishable food items are collected in all 23 Donation Centers located in Guilford, Alamance, Randolph, Rockingham and Caswell counties.
